August Update
Well, it's been forever since I posted. First of all, since I know many of you are on tenterhooks, I completed the Washington State Bar Exam on Thursday, July 28th. I went out with friends that evening to the beer pub where my brother works and celebrated with a beer and pizza. It is a HUGE load off of my mind to be done with the test. Now, I just have to wait for the results, which come in October! Talk about suspense...but I've decided to put it out of my mind for the most part and just focus on other things.
August 6th, my parents hosted a HUGE party for me in celebration of my graduation and completion of the bar exam. Family and friends came to Lopez from Seattle, Gig Harbor, California, Florida, and Michigan to name a few locations. For the first time in the 19 years we've lived here, my mom's entire immediate family was all together on Lopez - definitely a Kodak moment! I received lovely gifts from everyone, but the biggest gift of all was just being surrounded by so many of my loved ones. The night before the party, about 30 of us were at the house for dinner and we had a champage toast (with the Dom Perignon & Veuve Cliquot my dad bought me for graduation!). Totally unplanned, everyone in the house said a few words for me which brought me to tears more than once. What a GREAT way to celebrate the end of one chapter of my life and the beginning of another!
Since that time, I've been back and forth between Lopez (most of the time) and Seattle. I've spent time with my grandparents and my aunt Venus. I've celebrated my brother's 25th birthday in Seattle with a dinner on Alki one night, and every person in the bar singing him happy birthday at the stroke of midnight on the eve of his birthday. I've held my niece, had great conversations with my mom, made plans to attend a friend's wedding in Cali (I love you Heather and wish I could be there after all!), and yes, I've even managed to fit in a job search now and then.
That's the next big thing for me. I'm looking for a job somewhere in Western Washington, though for a phenomenal opportunity I would go to D.C. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers, and let me know if you hear of any great jobs popping up! In the meantime, I'll be hoping to catch up with you all in person, by phone, or at least by e-mail. And for those who didn't hear me say it on Lopez - thank you! I could not have made it through law school with my sanity if not for the love, prayers, and support of all of my friends and family. You rock!
